GOLF - RAILWAY B pair of James Nkambule and Nomvuyo Dludlu had to dig deeper into their reserves of courage to be crowned winners of the ESRIC E193 000 Business League games on Thursday at the Ezulwini Golf Club. The two winners posted 70 points to beat the second-placed duo of Albert Mavuso and Mike Zwane who are in the books of ESRIC D.
The runners-up scored 68c/o points while the duo of Vusi G. Dlamini and Maqhawa Maziya finished third with 68 points to their credit. On fourth position were Zweli Maziya and Artwell Masuku of Dixies with 67 points while completing the top five were the duo of Vusi H Dlamini and Andrew Mkhonta representing Futis.
Fast-rising golfer Nosmilo Kgomo, turned out for UHS, was declared the winner in the ladies' section after managing 33 points while the longest day award went to Eswatini Revenue Services (ERS) Genius Sihlonyanyane with 19 points. C.S Dlamini won the mystery draw award while the nearest to the pin three prize went to Martin Litschka with Jerry Zungu taking home the nearest to the pin six award.
Interestingly, no winner was declared for the nearest to the pin 18 award while Dale Masilela took home the longest drive four. The last award of longest drive 17 went to Mike Zwane. Addressing the competing teams during the prize presentation ceremony, one of the league's organisers Vusi Dlamini said the standard of play was impressive.
He praised the golfers for giving their best and making the league very exciting to watch. "The competition today was very tough and you could see that all the teams were well prepared to battle. It is pleasing to note that the level of play keeps improving and this is what we always encourage as organisers. The greens here at Ezulwini Club are in perfect condition and this made the games even more competitive. Congratulations are also in order for the winners today, we can only encourage them to show such consistency going forward," Dlamini urged.
