Griffiths celebrates his victory with his wife, Charlotte, and their two children, Cruz and Harper.
Exciting incentives for hole-in-one unclaimed At least 16 local golfers had made it to the final round of the 2025 King’s Cup. The best-performing liSwati was James Pennington, who finished ninth in an event that also attracted golfers from Malawi and Namibia.
Pennington described his performance as frustrating, saying he felt he did not play well and committed many mistakes that cost him. The top local golfer said he did, however, have a good finish yesterday, refuting any pressure that could have cost him and sticking with the explanation that he committed many mistakes.
In the amateurs, Vusi Dlamini remained the top local on followed by Vusi Gama, while Melvin Dave was third. Dlamini pocketed E24 000, while Gama walked away with E15 000 and Dave received E10 000 in prizes. On another note, golfers Mongi Dlamini, Sandile Chonco, Justice Mashego, Wandile Maduna and Mathew Dennis were the champions of the King’s Cup Golf Pro-Am Tournament. They shared E25 000.
The total prize pool for the entire tournament was E3.1 million. Sponsors included the Eswatini Royal Insurance Corporation (ESRIC), MTN Eswatini, Ubombo Sugar Limited, Nedbank, Eswatini Electricity Company (EEC), Financial Services Regulatory Authority (FSRA), Luphohlo Commodities and Eswatini Railways, among others. However, the biggest prize of the tournament went unclaimed. This was the E600 000 hole-in-one prize.

Griffiths’ liSwati caddy nets E15 000 after win
EZULWINI—King’s Cup Golf champion Hayden Griffiths’ caddy Sonnyboy Sithole will receive E15 000 from the champion’s prize money.
A caddy is an individual who carries a golfer’s bag of clubs and provides them with assistance and advice during a round of golf.
Griffiths, who played from Friday until yesterday, was crowned champion, and said he will give Sithole this portion of his prize money. The international standard for a caddy’s payment is typically set at 10 per cent of the prize money.
Percentage
However, in the country, it is understood there is no fixed percentage. Instead, winners are expected to give their caddy an amount that has been agreed upon between them. The champion confirmed that Sithole would definitely receive a share of his winnings, stating it would be E15 000. Griffiths expressed his happiness that this time, the old man would have something to cherish after the tournament, unlike last year when he did not win. Meanwhile, Sithole declined to comment.
