ESRIC pledges major darts sponsorship

MBABANE — The Eswatini Royal Insurance Corporation (ESRIC) has officially committed to increasing its sponsorship package for the 2026 Darts League.

This pledge was revealed by ESRIC General Manager (GM) Zama Ngcobo during the 2025 season prize-giving ceremony, held at the SibaneSami Hotel in Ezulwini on Tuesday.

The event was attended by high-ranking officials, including Eswatini National Darts Association (ENDA) Vice President Thandeka ‘Tee’ Mkhonto and Eswatini Sport and Recreation Council (ESRC) Business Development Manager Zama Tsabedze. The ceremony served as the final crowning moment for Scorpion Darts Club, who were officially decorated as the 2025 league champions.

Addressing club representatives and stakeholders, Ngcobo confirmed that the corporation aims to elevate the tournament's profile, ensuring the 2026 season offers an even more competitive and rewarding environment for local players.

“We will continue with the sponsorship, and I would like to promise that it will be bigger than the current E150 000,” Ngcobo stated.

He urged the ENDA executive, led by President Phumlani ‘Kofi’ Ndwandwe, to focus on the future of the sport, following the successful celebration of the 2025 winners.

Developing

“I would also like to thank both the Ministry of Sports, Culture and Youth Affairs, as well as the Sports Council, for the role they play in developing the sport in the country,” he said.

Furthermore, he commended the teams for a violence-free season, noting that unsporting behaviour tends to drive away corporate sponsorship.

Meanwhile, in the ENDA Schools League, Charles Wesley emerged as the overall winners with 81 points, followed by LaMdladla with 72 points. Elangeni and Ngwane Park occupied the third and fourth spots with 68 and 65 points, respectively.
