E250 000 ESRIC DONATION TO MBABANE GOVT HOSPITAL ICU

E250 000 ESRIC DONATION TO MBABANE GOVT HOSPITAL ICU

MBABANE – Eswatini Royal Insurance Corporation (ESRIC) has donated specialised equipment worth E250 000 to the Mbabane Government Hospital Intensive Care Unit (ICU) as part of the 2026 corporate social responsibility (CSI) programme.

The Mbabane Government ICU is a specialised hospital ward that provides critical care and support for patients with serious illnesses, injuries or conditions requiring close monitoring and advanced treatment. The function of the ICU requires specialised equipment, which is always expensive and difficult to source.

This year’s donation is not new, as ESRIC has been supporting the ICU since 2021, with equipment worth over E1.2 million.

Equipment

Since then, ESRIC has donated critical and specialised equipment such as oxygen systems, syringe drivers, oxygen cylinder regulators, bedside monitors, linen and medical waste trolleys, electric suction machines, and rolling stands.

Last year, the donation included 3 Alpha Active 4 Pneumatic Pumps with mattress, 4 oxygen cylinder regulators, coox sensors for adults and paediatric ones, antimicrobial disposable curtains, disinfectant spray, nugget warming blankets, LED television screens and a laptop.

All this equipment will assist the ICU patients to be cared for easily by the doctors. The donation was handed over to the hospital administration by the General Manager Zama Ngcobo, who appreciated the ICU’s role of providing critical healthcare to emaSwati, which would ordinarily cost thousands of Emalangeni to access.

Illness

For the most part, critical care is needed for patients facing serious illnesses, injuries or severe life-threatening conditions.

The equipment donated this year includes two infusion pumps – Agilia VP MC used to deliver controlled amounts of medication, blood products and nutritional fluids into the patient’s body in a safe and precise manner.

ESRIC has also donated two video laryngoscopes used by doctors to view the larynx and vocal cords, and many more pieces of equipment.
